PomoTimr

A timer that does one thing well. Focus, one Pomodoro at a time, with everything saved on your own device.

Overview

Open the page, press Start.

Nothing leaves the device.
Tasks, settings and stats are kept in the browser's local storage. There is nothing to sign up for, nothing to install, and nothing you type is ever sent anywhere.

PomoTimr is a free Pomodoro timer: 25 minutes of focus, then a break, with a longer break after every four sessions. Around the timer sit the few things that make the habit stick, a task list that tallies finished Pomodoros, and a daily view of focus time, sessions and streak.

There is no feed to check, no account to manage and no upsell waiting behind the Start button.

The Problem

Focus tools that compete for your focus.

Plenty of timers want an account before the first session, push a premium tier, or drift by minutes the moment their tab goes into the background. For a tool whose only job is to protect 25 minutes, that is a lot of friction.

The Approach

One job, done exactly.

The timer is ready the instant the page loads, keeps exact time in any tab, and remembers everything locally. Every extra feature had to earn its place by making the next session more likely, not by adding another thing to manage.

The Technique

Work in sprints. Rest on purpose.

Pick one task

Add what you are working on and make it the active task. It collects a tally mark every time a Pomodoro finishes.

Focus for 25 minutes

Start the timer and work until it rings. A gentle chime marks the end, with optional desktop notifications if the tab is in the background.

Take a real break

Five minutes to stand up and stretch, and a longer break after four sessions. Breaks get their own colour, so a glance tells you which part of the cycle you are in.

What It Does

Everything you need. Nothing you don't.

Tasks with a running tally

A short task list beside the timer. The active task shows under the clock and gains a mark with each finished session, so you can see where the time went.

Streaks and weekly stats

Today's focus time, sessions completed and how many days in a row you have shown up, with a bar for each of the last seven days.

Ring or flip clock

Choose a progress ring or a flip clock, in light or dark. Switch with one click, or press D.

Exact in any tab

Remaining time is worked out from the clock, not by counting ticks, so it stays exact when the browser throttles a background tab or the phone is locked.

Keyboard first

Space to start and pause, R to reset, N to skip, 1 to 3 to switch mode, D to change the display and the comma key for Settings.

Ready-made timers

Preset pages for 25, 30, 45, 50 and 60 minutes open the same timer with the focus length already set. Breaks, tasks and stats carry over.

FAQ

Common questions.

Is PomoTimr free?

Yes, completely. There is no account, no premium tier and nothing to install. Open the page and press Start.

Where is the data stored?

In the browser, using local storage. Tasks, statistics and settings never leave the device, which also means they belong to that browser. Analytics counts visits and never receives anything typed into the app.

Does the timer keep running in a background tab?

Yes. The remaining time is calculated from the clock rather than by counting ticks, so it stays exact even when the browser throttles a background tab or the phone is locked. The remaining time also shows in the tab title.

Can the session lengths be changed?

Settings covers the focus, short-break and long-break lengths and how many sessions run before a long break. There are also ready-made 25, 30, 45, 50 and 60-minute timer pages.

Can it be used without a mouse?

Yes. Space starts and pauses, R resets, N skips, 1 to 3 switch mode, D changes the display and the comma key opens Settings.

Tech Stack

Small, fast, and entirely client-side.

Next.js React localStorage Notifications API Vercel

Built with Next.js and served from Vercel, with no backend for user data at all. State lives in local storage, the countdown is derived from a stored end time so it survives throttled tabs and reloads, and the optional alerts use the browser's own Notifications API.
